Bluecats Use Two Big Quarters To Dump Bangs

The vaunted Coleman Bluecat rushing offense was kept in check by the Bangs Dragons Friday night, holding
them to only 170 yards on the ground, but the Cats responded with 96 yards through the air.
But, the sterling effort on the night belonged to the Coleman defensive crew who held the Dragons to just 43
yards on the ground on 37 attempts. That is stout in anybody's book! They also held Bangs to 80 yards in
passing, on 23 attempts, and recorded another interception, this one by Stanley Cole, who returned the pick 18
yards for a touchdown.
Both teams failed to score in the first quarter, but the Bluecats struck first with 9:39 left in the second
quarter on a 2-yard run by Cole. Oscar Villeda's PAT was good and the Cats led 7-0.
Bronson Buzzard got the next score of the night on a 16-yard jaunt with 5:06 left in the half. Villeda's
kick was true once more for a 14-0 lead.
With just 21 ticks left before halftime, Colton Buzzard hit Jamal Agbor for 7 yards and a touchdown.
Villeda's PAT try was good and the Cats led 21-0 at halftime.
The third quarter was exactly like the first....no scoring for either team. But Cole's interception return put the game
away with 9:45 left in the game.
Coleman scored its last touchdown of the night with :51 left in the game, when Buzzard hit Corbin Brooks for a
20-yard TD pass, Buzzard's second TD pass of the night. Villeda's kick was good (isn't it always?) to round out
the scoring for the night at 35-0.
Colton Buzzard led the Cats offensively rushing with 62 yards and probably his best night passing at 6 of 9 for 96
yards. Bother Bronson led in receiving with two catches for 32 yards.
Bangs fell to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in district while Coleman improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in district.
Coleman faces Grape Creek next week, while Bangs entertains rival Early.
